Classic American roulette has 0, 00 and numbers 1 to 36. That gives 38 possible outcomes on a fair wheel. This lowers the chance of the same coverage compared with a European wheel.
Red is not 50%
Red covers 18 of 38 pockets, or about 47.37%. The classic 1:1 payout does not compensate for the two green pockets.
Watch the five-number bet
The usual house edge is 5.26%, but the American five-number bet on 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3 has different payout and edge characteristics. Do not apply a general average to every bet without checking the rules.
